in the Port wine industry,
revealing the launch
of the Van Zellers & Co
2020 Vintage Port
Ocean Aged in partnership
with Zouri Shoes.

Portugal’s sea territory is 40 times larger
than the terrestrial one, so it is safe to say Portugal is
97% water.

Sea pollution levels are rising.

Every year about 14 million tons of plastic waste escapes into the
oceans from coastal nations.

On the 7th of December 2022

WE HAVE COLLABORATED WITH

An eco-vegan footwear brand that uses plastic trash from the Portuguese coast together with ecologic and sustainable materials to create their shoe designs.

Together, we have developed a single bottle
casing using recycled materials and natural
rubber to form the unique shape of a shell.

AGED AT 10 METRES DEEP

Here, all bottles find a stable temperature of around
13ºC and low light for a smooth ageing process.

THE INTENSITY OF THE RED FRUIT, CHOCOLATE, DARK SPICES AND SMOOTH NUTTY ELEMENT HAVE BEEN MELLOWED. THE BOLDER TANNINS HAVE BECOME ROUND. THE SENSATION OF THE WINE IS PURE RED FRUIT VELVET WITH INCREDIBLE NUANCES OF AN OLDER VINTAGE PORT.

Time and balance are key to bring to the wine the extra qualities we want to enhance.

THE WINES WERE RELEASED ON INTERNATIONAL OCEAN'S DAY, 8TH OF JULY 2023.

However, they will rest under water until the 16th of November.
You may follow their ageing process

Part of the proceeds will revert to the Oceanário de Lisboa and for their educational programme directed to young students in the Douro region.

THIS PROJECT AIMS TO CALL ATTENTION TO A PRESSING MATTER THAT TO BEST TAKE CARE OF OUR LAND, WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR SEAS.
